ABOUT THE ARTISt

Jeanne Trueax is a Colorado native, currently calling Castle Rock her home. After earning a BA in Studio Art and Art History from Colorado Women’s College, she worked as a graphic artist/illustrator for various ad agencies and printing companies. She took time off to raise three children and is now able to create artwork again with renewed enthusiasm.

“Patterns and colors in nature fascinate me. I can look at the bark on a tree, or the way the rocks on a canyon wall bend and meld, for hours on end. I love to try to interpret those images on paper. I find it extremely relaxing to draw black and white patterns. Color, on the other hand, freaks me out. This might be why I paint bright, big images. I don’t seem to have an in-between setting. It’s either small and intricately detailed black & white, or large, 'slap in the face’ color.”

Jeanne is an active member of the local art community. She served as President of the Parker Artists Guild in 2023-25, is the current Curator at the Schoolhouse Gallery, and participates in organizations such as the Castle Rock Artist Alliance, the Tri Arts Project, Cherry Creek Art Gallery, and Kanon Collective Gallery. Through these roles, she supports fellow artists and fosters connections within the art scene.

Jeanne has gained critical acclaim for her pen and ink illustrations and vibrant paintings. Her work is exhibited in a variety of venues around the metro area, including Kanon Collective Gallery in Lakewood; Cast Iron Tavern in Golden; The Schoolhouse Theater, the Donut House, Fika Coffeehouse in Parker; and various other locations around the Front Range. Jeanne approaches her art as a form of personal expression and a celebration of shared experiences. Her journey as an artist is ongoing, driven by passion, commitment, and a desire to connect through creativity.
